I read in Yahoo!News that there was a solar storm (which happens every 11 years)... but there could be more - and even deadlier.

I'm extremely scared, and I have too much pride to cry about it to my parents (who are arguing at the moment). To be honest, these thngs have always scared me ever since I was 5-years-old. My mom and dad would never comfort me (even as a small child) about these things like 2012, Y2K, etc. So my fear of the world ending is a phobia that is escalating day by day.

I'm definitely not ready to end like in 2013 or 2014. I'd only be 15-years-old! And my siblings would be too young and wouldn't have experienced the life that they should have. This is a genuine fear that (in my opinion) controls me. A lot of the time I'm think, 'When will I die?' or, 'Will ____ happen now?'

Please, any sort of comfort is fine. I'm scared out of my wits... and really, I feel kinda pathetic, because this is nowhere near my usual character...

Well, I don't know if this will comfort you, but people have been predicting the end of the world for ages. We definitely have some records of these predictions from several centuries back, particularly those with some... uh, Christian inspiration. So far, we're doing pretty damn good.

Ooooh, I know how you feel! I get scared quite a lot about things like this...
But if a solar storm happens every 11 years... then it can't be too bad! All the nasty stuff happens oce ever 11 billion years, or something XD

Anyway, we're lurkers on the internet. We can survive anything.

Honestly, who knows when "the end" will be. I used to be terrified of that stuff too (I spent Y2K crying over some missiles my dad kept insisting were going to go off and kill us all. :/), but lately the chances of something else happening to take my life seem a lot greater than any of the chances of those things. I'm not trying to scare you, I'm just saying that stuff is so unpredictable it isn't worth getting upset and wasting what time you already have worrying over it.

Solar storms aren't that bad, I think. Anyway, no one knows what will happen and when, so don't waste the amount of time you have on being afraid and worrying. Just live your life in a way that'd make you happy about it when the time comes. Either way, anything could kill you at any given moment, so there is no use worrying about it since you can't control most of it.
